Paediatric Physiotherapy

We’re Here For Case Managers & Our Patients
Our Approach

At PaedsPhysio our Children’s Physiotherapists have extensive experience of working with children who have serious and complex needs following injury at birth, after a road traffic incident, due to clinical negligence or other causes.

At PaedsPhysio we understand the unique complexities of working as part of an inter-disciplinary team for children during litigation and have robust processes in place that support the child, their family, the case manager, and litigation team. Aspirational, goal-focused children’s physiotherapy can be hard to find and without expert support their rehabilitation may stall and parents can be left feeling frustrated and helpless because of a lack of guidance. Our experience working with children following catastrophic injury is that clear communication and the development of a rapport with the child and their family is essential to maximise the child’s outcome and successfully navigate what can be a challenging journey.

Family-Friendly Physio

We understand that complex and catastrophic injuries can compound the difficulties that children and adolescents experience. In these instances, everyone in the family requires support to adjust to the situation. We help babies and children in their growth and development, whilst parents may need guidance in how to navigate the challenges of being a parent and carer. Goals and aspirations then start to shift, as young clients aim for independence, and caregivers simultaneously strive to maintain closeness. We assist families in navigating these challenges, while respecting the independence of the young person.

How We Work

PaedsPhysio accepts instructions to perform Initial Needs Assessments for children with ongoing litigation or following settlement of their case. We recognise the importance of finding the right therapist for a particular child and will discuss their situation before making a recommendation of the most suitable member of the team to assist their rehabilitation. PaedsPhysio offers ‘meet and greet’ appointments by video, without charge, to ensure that our Paediatric Physiotherapist is a good fit for the family, and to start the process of building an effective therapeutic relationship.

Our team meets high standards of professional conformance, and we can confirm compliance with article 28 of the GDPR, that our therapists have recent DBS checks, have completed mandatory training, and maintain professional indemnity/liability insurance. PaedsPhysio will provide an accurate quote for consultations, a CV for the treating clinician, and complete a professional conformance declaration prior to arranging an initial needs assessment.

At PaedsPhysio, we believe in identifying the rehabilitation needs of our clients and setting realistic goals for interventions. Our expert Children’s Physiotherapist will conduct a thorough assessment and provide you with a comprehensive report outlining their rehabilitation treatment plan. This report will include objective measurements along with goal planning, and associated costs. If we find that there’s a need for additional equipment, we will recommend the best course of action, whether it’s a trial or purchase and provide a rationale. Our aim is to help the child and their support team to achieve their rehabilitation goals as efficiently as possible.

PeadsPhysio understands that effective rehabilitation is more than just clinical work. Our unique and individualized rehabilitation programmes aim to produce lasting, meaningful results. With a focus on imagination and fun, we provide our services in the comfort of the child’s home and within the community, including education settings, where appropriate, to ensure that progress translates into their real-world activities and supports the family.

As part of our children’s physiotherapy programmes, we assess risks and provide care instructions for home practice. Our team works with parents, caregivers and support workers to provide training in rehabilitation techniques and interventions, which they can fully integrate into a child’s regimen. At PaedsPhysio, we’re highly experienced at working within multidisciplinary teams, using effective communication strategies to ensure a team approach.

PaedsPhysio upholds exceptional standards of record keeping, including media recording to facilitate prompt responses to any record inquiries. We offer frequent progress reports based on the agreed SMART goals and can attend team meetings remotely or in person as necessary. We take a compassionate approach to help children to achieve optimal physical health and well-being.

Where We Fit In

At PaedsPhysio, we believe that no child’s recovery should be limited by their rehabilitation provider. Our focus is on providing children with the specialized physiotherapy they deserve. We’re passionate about helping children to reach their potential and fulfil their ambitions. We understand that traditional rehabilitation approaches don’t always produce the results that we know are possible for children with complex needs. Our aspirational, problem-solving approach seeks to find solutions to complex problems and enable children to live fulfilling lives.

Our Paediatric Physiotherapists collaborate with their clients, the young person’s family, care teams and the interdisciplinary team to create rehabilitation opportunities and objective-oriented programmes which are responsive to the developing needs of the young clients, as well as the litigation process. By providing detailed communication, record-keeping, and media recordings, we not only achieve superior outcomes, but also support the claims process.

We are committed to providing compassionate and aspirational rehabilitation, specially designed to optimise the child’s outcome while keeping theirunique needs in mind.
