Private Children’s Physiotherapy Assessment

Engaging, thorough, physio assessments, tailored to your child’s needs

At PaedsPhysio, our assessments are designed to be engaging, thorough, and tailored to your child’s specific needs.

Whether you’re seeking private input, working with a case manager, or need a comprehensive developmental evaluation, our children’s physio team deliver child-centred physiotherapy assessments that lead to meaningful, goal-driven results. Every child is unique and so is every assessment we carry out. Our private physiotherapy assessments are tailored to each individual child, focusing on their specific challenges and goals. We take time to understand your concerns as a parent or caregiver and work closely with your child in a friendly, relaxed way.

We assess not only the physical problem but also how it impacts their daily life, play, movement, and participation. Our experienced paediatric physiotherapists use a variety of age-appropriate tools and techniques to explore mobility, strength, coordination, posture, and more. Following the assessment, we’ll explain our findings clearly and discuss what therapy might work for your child and how the plan would fit around your family’s needs.

Paediatric Physiotherapy Assessment for Case Managed Clients

How we help case managed patients

Paediatric physiotherapy assessment for case managed clients

For children who are involved in case management or the medico-legal process, our assessments follow a structured and professional format designed to inform wider rehabilitation planning and support the litigation process.

Our Initial Needs Assessments are comprehensive and quantified, detailing the assessment findings, implications, proposed treatment plan and the short and long-term rehabilitation goals for the child. These assessments are typically requested by case managers or solicitors and are completed in close collaboration with families and the wider multidisciplinary team. At PaedsPhysio, we understand the complexities of case management, litigation and what can be difficult rehabilitation journeys for our young clients. Our experienced team ensures that every child’s therapy starts with a well-informed, client-centred foundation.

Comprehensive child-focused assessments

Whether for a private individual or after appointment by a Case Manager, we use a wide range of formal and informal assessment tools. Our assessment process is not only specific to the child’s diagnosis or problems, we also take into account the child’s age, stage of development, personality, family needs and goals.

Some of the tools we use to support our understanding of a child’s needs are:

  • Collaborative goal setting using a Life Wheel discussion and the F words Family, Function (at home and in the community), Fitness, Friends, Fun and the Future.
  • Developmental Milestone Assessment
Including the Alberta Infant Motor Scale to evaluate key physical milestones such as sitting, crawling, standing, and walking.
  • Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM)
used for children with cerebral palsy and other conditions to assess progress in gross motor skills over time.
  • Gait Assessment and Analysis
observation and measurement of walking patterns to identify abnormalities, imbalances, or equipment needs.
  • Posture and Muscle Tone Assessment
evaluating muscle stiffness, low tone, or asymmetry that may impact comfort or mobility.
  • Physical Functioning and Risk Assessment
assessing a child’s ability to move safely and independently in daily environments like home or school.
