PaedsPhysio provides children’s physiotherapy across Buckinghamshire, working with families in Milton Keynes and Aylesbury. Our therapists travel to you, which for a child who finds journeys tiring or distressing removes the hardest part of an appointment before it has started.
We travel to your child rather than the other way round. Sessions happen at home, at nursery, at school or somewhere outdoors, and everything we ask a child to practise afterwards uses what is already in those spaces.
The people around your child benefit too. When a parent or teaching assistant has seen exactly how something should be done, the exercises continue through the week instead of waiting for our next visit. Our who we help page sets out the families and professionals we support.
We start with a full paediatric assessment, which covers movement patterns, muscle strength, posture, balance and function in daily activities. Goals are agreed with you and your child, and a treatment programme is built around them. What we aim for is practical: standing to get dressed, keeping pace with friends, managing steps, or having enough energy left at the end of the school day.
Children with cerebral palsy, brain injury, spinal cord injury, spina bifida and peripheral nerve injuries including Erb’s palsy are seen through our neurological physiotherapy service.
Our surgical and orthopaedic physiotherapy helps children recovering from trauma and fractures, treatment following selective dorsal rhizotomy, rehabilitation after surgery, and amputee rehabilitation.
In neuromuscular conditions we see children with muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy and juvenile myasthenia gravis. Our genetic conditions service supports children with Down’s syndrome and Rett syndrome.
Many children come to us without a named condition. Their needs might involve developmental delay and coordination difficulties, and the general children’s physiotherapy problems such as hypermobility, plagiocephaly, torticollis, Perthes disease and positional talipes.
Where a family, school or legal team needs something in writing, we provide physiotherapy reports documenting the assessment and the plan that follows from it. We also offer training and consultancy for schools and care teams in Buckinghamshire, so the adults supporting a child have the confidence and knowledge to do it properly.
