PaedsPhysio provides specialist children’s physiotherapy to babies, children and young people across Hertfordshire. Our head office is in Hertford, so the county is close to home for our team and appointments are straightforward to arrange. We work with families in Hertford, Stevenage, Watford, Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, Welwyn Garden City, Berkhamsted and Bishop’s Stortford, and in the surrounding villages.
We come to your child rather than asking your child to come to us. That might be your living room, a nursery, a school hall or a local park. Seeing a child in the places they spend their time tells us far more than a clinic room would, and it means the exercises we set can use the space, furniture and equipment already there.
It also means the adults around your child can be part of the session. We show parents, grandparents, teaching assistants and carers exactly what to do and why, so progress continues between our visits rather than pausing until the next one. Our who we help page explains the range of families and professionals we work alongside.
We start with a full paediatric assessment, looking at movement, strength, posture, balance and how your child manages the practical tasks of their day. From that we agree goals with you and your child, and build a treatment programme around them. Goals are usually practical rather than clinical, whether that is sitting unsupported, keeping up in the playground, managing stairs at home or getting through a school day with less fatigue.
Our neurological physiotherapy covers children with cerebral palsy, brain injury, spinal cord injury, spina bifida and peripheral nerve injuries including Erb’s palsy.
Our surgical and orthopaedic physiotherapy supports children after trauma and fractures, following selective dorsal rhizotomy, during recovery from surgery, and through amputee rehabilitation.
For neuromuscular conditions we work with children with muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy and juvenile myasthenia gravis. Our genetic conditions service includes Down’s syndrome and Rett syndrome.
We also see a great many children whose needs sit outside a named diagnosis. That includes developmental delay and coordination difficulties, and the broader children’s physiotherapy presentations such as hypermobility, plagiocephaly, torticollis, Perthes disease and positional talipes.
Where a family, school or legal team needs something in writing, we provide physiotherapy reports setting out our findings and recommendations. We also offer training and consultancy for school staff and care teams in Hertfordshire who are supporting a child day to day and want to feel confident doing it well.
We work regularly with case managers supporting children in Hertfordshire following catastrophic injury or with lifelong conditions. Our case managers page explains how we handle instructions, assessments and ongoing reporting.
We visit families across the county, including Hertford, Stevenage, Watford, Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, Welwyn Garden City, Berkhamsted and Bishop’s Stortford. If you cannot see your town, please ask, as we may already be working nearby.
You do not need a referral to arrange an appointment. Call 0800 915 3288, email hello@physio4you.co.uk or use the contact form. It helps to tell us your child’s age, a little about what you are noticing and where you would like us to see them.
